    as a solution to our repeated problems with helix (specifically,
    http://bugs.campware.org/view.php?id=960), I decided to dump helix in
    favour of gstreamer (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/). I'm currently
    working on a new AudioPlayerInterface implementation, utilizing gstreamer.

    One of the differences will be that it's really better to use ALSA
    interfaces with gstreamer, instead of OSS. Also, I have to work on
    playlist support, and I still have to investigate on how to play streams.
