Since a whole bunch of changes are being made to the Article Types in
2.6, we were wondering if it would be useful to be able to turn the
WYSIWYG editor on or off for text fields. This basically means you
could have a "plain text field" and an "HTML field". The HTML field
would have the editor, and the plain text field wouldn't (a normal
TEXTAREA in HTML). Why wouldn't you want the editor? Maybe you don't
need formatting capabilities for a field, or maybe you want the "Article
Edit" screen to load faster. Since no one has expressed a need for
this, we have our doubts this would be useful, so please speak up if you
like this idea.
it is useful for the intro (deck) of articles. which ususally contain no
links or formatting but *feel* longer than the text input line field. even
though most of the time they won't exceed the 255 chars. but still in a
textarea field you can see the text all at once.
i think it would be a good thing.
