Why, why, why :)
  • Hi all,

Impressive program you have, at least what I can see from the information on this site! It is bang on target the program we are looking for, but as many others we have found interesting - you need your very own webserver to get it working. And that is not an option for our project, since we do not plan to fiddle around with it locally in the garage. Smile

So my question is, why? Is it impossible to make a open source web publishing system for all users out there which have their domains on shared webhosts (like www.b-one.net as a example)

As you can understand, they wont let us restart och change the servers or run serverside installations...

Are the processes in making a web publishing system so advanced that you really cant make it work on a shared host without this hassle?

  • Hi,

I'm sorry to hear campsite is not an option for you the way it is now; we plan
on making campsite usable on hosting servers where users do not have root
access. We should be there in about 6 months; in the meantime there is this guy
who hosts campsite based sites: he does everything (install, configuration,
maintenance, updates), you just need to write the templates and articles. His
name is Ondra Koutek and you can reach him at kouteko@tol.cz in case you decide
    to go this way.

You can check the campsite road map on bugs.campware.org: create an account and
you can see campsite bugs and features list.

    Regards,
    Mugur
