newbie here, playlists, rotations?

    i have my station up and running, do live broadcasts wth BUTT, works fine, no issues, just question:

    i have music setup via playlists, and i have specific shows running each day of the week, auto dj fills in the gaps.

    my question, maybe someone can give this newbie a easy to understand explaination between playlists, rotation and smartblocks?

    i have playlists, they work, so for example, if i made a play list to play 2 hours from 6pm to 8pm each night, what is the benefit of a Rotation? how would that help or work on its own?  Do smartblocks work the the same way?

    Using the same example for smartblocks, how would they improve anything im doing with playlists?
