[campsite-support] [Important] Apologies for the Spam Re: Nate invited you to join h
  • Hello all,

I have been notified by a family member that a website called woome.com, has
been accidentally spamming my contact list. From what I know, It appears
that there was some sort of software bug with the website's contact
importer. I clicked skip to cancel the contact importing operation yet
apparently the web applet sent up to 8+ emails to each person on my contact
list anyways. (I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with
the firefox 3.0 upgrade. I believce that the web app was not tested enough
with mozilla.org's latest browser). As you can imagine, when I found out
about the spam, I was extremely upset.

I have contacted the company in question notifying them of the spam issue (I
have also cc-ed them on this email). Please note that as far as I know,
    woome is a legitimate
    companywith
    a thorough privacy
policy so please do go ahead and click
on the url in the email in question to block emails from woome (i.e. : "if
you want to block emails from WooMe members in the future, please click on
this link..."). Jokingly aside, maybe I can get a
jobout of this incident sometime in
    the future.

I am extremely disappointed with woome.com. Obviously it was never my
intention to send out all those email as you know as well I that it could be
somewhat embarrassing. As a busy person, the site gave me an easy and safe
way to occasionally take some time out of my schedule and practice the art
of conversation (not unlike toastmasters). Oh well, my love affair with
woome.com is obviously over (pun intended Very Happy); I've taken down my account
and I will never use the site again.

If you have any other concerns, comments or questions please email me. I
will be somewhat occupied over the next few weeks until the middle August so
apologies if I can't field your comments or concerns immediately.

Last but not least, I should mention that there are a few lessons to be
gained from this incident. The most obvious point: I will never use such a
contact importer on any social network ever again.

    Sincerely,
    Nathan Vexler
