Sometimes, I get errors about too many MySQL connections from the Newscoop user. Does Newscoop use persistent connections so they can be reused? It is better than starting a new database connection for each visitor on the website.

We use Doctrine2 as our dbal and orm. From what i know it don't use persistent connections with mysql. Nice reading here:
