IceCast Mount Password
  • Just a very basic question, and I apologize if this has been covered before.

    When I am using the mount point as listed in the icecast.xml file, which login information do I have to use? Do I have to use the login information at the top of the file, or the login information in the mount source itself? I have tried all of the passwords in the document and none of them seem to work.

    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Keane,

    maybe you have to be more specific. which information at the top or login in the mount source itself?
    which commands do you mean?
    <authentication>
    <source-password>hackme<source-password>
    <relay-password>hackme<relay-password>
    <admin-user>admin<admin-user>
    <admin-password>hackme<admin-password>
    <authentication>
    Check values in
    Airtime => System => Stream 1 => Additional Options =>

    Username: mostly should be 'source'
    Password: password
    Admin User: mostly should be 'admin'
    Password: password

    and be sure they're equal to username & password in icecast.xml

    hope this helps, cheers

    Hi, don't forgot the limit of sources and clients ;-)

            <limits>
    <clients>100</clients>
    <sources>3</sources>
    <threadpool>5</threadpool>
    <client-timeout>30</client-timeout>
    <header-timeout>15</header-timeout>
    <source-timeout>10</source-timeout>
    </limits>

  • The Sections of Icecast are

    •     Limits
    •     Authentication
    •     Stream Directory Settings
    •     Misc Server settings
    •     Relay settings
    •     Mount Specific settings
    •     File path settings
    •     Logging
    •     Security

    The two key sections you refer to are Highlighted.

    Authentication

    This section contains all the usernames and passwords used for administration purposes or to connect sources and relays.

    Its basically the Main section you would use for your  main Airtime

    Mount Specific settings

    This provide additional configuration and apply only to a specific mount point and applies to
    an incoming stream whether it is a relay or a source client.

    So you could use this for fail over mounts or separate mounts
    Lets say we what

    1. Airtime called that mount Stream or Airtime  [ this is place in the Authentication above
    2. A remote Source (Dj or Station)  called that Live
    3. People Listening  Called that mount   Listen

    Covers how to do so

    If you want you can cusomise this by putting in seperate login information and other as explained here
