Unable to Get anything to connect to the Airtime Master Source
  • No matter what I do, nothing appears to want to connect to the Airtime Master Source.

I had a very brief connection when testing it with Mixxx after a fresh install - but after that Mixxx would completely refuse to reconnect. Same With BUTT as well.

It seems that after the connection failed after a while the master source would light up as if a connection had been received but there was nothing there.

The current Setup is running on Ubuntu 12.04 in VirtualBox. Output streams work perfectly with no issues - its just the input steams.

Note: I am not using the IceCast server on Airtime, but one on another box.

This brings up the question - is Airtime using its own built-in Icecast server for those streams? How does that mechanism work?

afaik, yes it does use built-in.
I think it has to do with VirtualBox or NAT.
    check this discussion http://forum.sourcefabric.org/discussion/15537/can039t-broadcast-live-with-ubuntu-10-4-virtualbox
and search the forum. there are a few discussions about vservers, virtualboxes, etc.
    cheers

  • I had already searched the forums before posting though I did miss the post you sent me. My issue seems very similar to his.

The network connection is bridged - the IP is a statically assigned DHCP address. The kicker here is that everything else works. The machine receives Pings & SSH traffic, et all. Likewise, it is streaming successfully.

Also, it DID briefly work on initial install. Then nothing.

Icecast uses TCP for the sources, and while I've read that VirtualBox has issues with UDP traffic - other TCP connections are having no issues.

I am getting an odd error from Liquid Soap On boot up - its complaining that a config file is missing, and a bunch of Python Scripts are having their connections refused. But in the status panel of airtime, everything has a green light.
