Problem with newscoop - Newscoop Support Discussions on Sourcefabric Forum

Hy all
I have one problem first of all i make same like in manual but i get this two errors
Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in C:\xampp\htdocs\mynewscoop\application.php on line 34

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in C:\xampp\htdocs\mynewscoop\application.php on line 37

I try to install it on xamp - localhost- windows xp :D but i cant beacuse of that two error
What now?

you should use unix based environment and php 5.3 at least

i'm new with that what you mean when you say unix based environment?

Newscoop is not tested under Windows. The best OS for newscoop testing is Ubuntu 12.04
