Airtime + IceCast on same VPS....can we still do Live Broadcasting? - Airtime Support Discussions on Sourcefabric Forum

Hi there, I am currently starting an up and coming web radio station and have moved away from shared hosting providers. I wanted to include AirTime on my VPS with IceCast but some of the documentation seems like putting both on the same box won't allow for anything but automated broadcasting. Surely this can't be true?

We were really hoping to install AirTime and IceCast on the same box, use it for automation but also still be able to direct connect and broadcast live shows. Can anyone shed some light on this?

"One of the simplest ways to get broadcasting with Airtime is to stream directly to an Icecast server without requiring a soundcard or mixer in the broadcast chain. Icecast is a program for streaming media over the Internet which enables people with your stream URL and a supported player or browser plugin to tune in to your station. It also works with jPlayer running on your own website, as shown in the Airtime manual.

This direct streaming option is particularly suitable for fully automated stations, in which all shows are played out using Airtime."

Hi there,
afaik, Airtime & Icecast normally ARE running on the same system, but Icecast CAN run on another server.

If you want to mix Live-Content with Automated Playout, you can do this with masterstream or sourcestream.

In this way, any allowed user can connect to Airtime. With Mastersource anytime, with Showsource just for assigned Shows.
