First, I must admit, Airtime seems too good to be true for Open Source. I have used many Open Source products over the years and this one is simply the best. However, I could use some advice being that I am just starting with it.
We would like for our listeners to "rate" or "vote" for songs and track the results. We are implementing "home grown" music stations and our intentions are to let the listeners decide which music moves further up the chain and then gets played on other stations becuase of popularity. Any Airtime gurus have an idea how to do this?
Second, (and I likely feel I know the answer to this but perhaps someone has a better way), we plan to run 6 stations simply because of the music genre's. We have a small newspaper and plan to use the local news, sports, weather, etc... across all stations but just wanted them separate to appeal directly to the subscribers choice of music.
I have a XenServer Farm and setup 6 Airtime virtual machines using Ubuntu. Oddly enough, it works great. However, we were hoping to somehow avoid having to manage 6 separate station schedules. We are using a SAN/NFS box to store all content on and just made mount points from each Airtime virtual server. We are not planning to do very much Live DJ work so 99% of our content (music, commercials, news, etc..) will be prerecorded and stored on the NFS.
