Hello, sorry my poor english. I have a lot of experience with joomla, wordpress and another installations, but i dont know how to install booktype, and dont understand the tutorial. I dowloaded the "booktype-1.5.5.tar" package, and now, I do with this? I have a server account on hostgator, also 1and1. I guess in localhost is more complicated, beacuse i havent python installed, but on hostgator server it should be work well.

Another question is that i want to have a web system for collaborative literature purposes. At first I thought in Mediawiki, but later i discovered BookType. Better booktype for this? Mediawiki is much easier to install, but if Booktype is the best option, then i try to probe.

Also, if i installed booktype in a subdomain of a joomla or wordpress installation, it is possible to share login data (uses/pass) between them

Hi,

Booktype is not only a php/mysql/postgresql cms
you need a server or vps to work with it
you can also use the SaaS version of Sourcefabric here : http://www.sourcefabric.com/en/booktypepro/

Hello Albert. I understand, but i have a Aluminum Reseller Plan on Hostgator (not vps, not dedicated server), with WHM and Cpanel, and this features: View Link

Programming Languages: CGI, Fast CGI, PHP 5, Ruby on Rails, Perl, Python, SSI
Programming Modules: Curl, CPAN, GD Library, Image Magick

Are you sure that my reseller plan is not valid?

Well, I too have got the same problem. And have got hostgator account with Reseller plan.

But, how/where do I writhe this all python code mentioned in the installation guide during the installation process. Is there any demo video that demonstrates installation process. This help would be great full.

There is this script which is able to recognise your distribution and install needed packages for you: https://github.com/aerkalov/booktype-scrolls/tree/master/scripts/install

There is no other video material for installation at the moment.

Hi! I also have a problem with the installation.

I am following this instruction guide: https://wiki.sourcefabric.org/display/Booktype/How+to+install+it+on+Ubuntu

The installation has been going smoothly for me until this step where I can't move on:
./Booktype/scripts/createbooki --database postgresql mybook<br>

There is no createboooki file in my Booktype/scripts folder. Hmmm.
