How to get the output signal in AAC+ from server. It seems a lack of information on the Airtime manual. Thank you!

These formats were never supported as output, only input. Currently the
only output formats supported is mp3/ogg. However we are looking into
potentially supporting aac/aac+ output in the future.

HE-AAC support was removed and is no longer supported anymore whatsoever. Sorry!

Ship SBR and PS support soon and you'll potentially be a hero to nearly half the free world. Add h.264 and you might claim the other half. No pressure or anything. :)

you can transcode on the fly with vlc or mplayer

VLC? Bah! I'd gladly pay $$ for full and proper HE-AAC support!

Another alternative would be to leverage OS native codecs in Liquidsoap, similar to what Mozilla/Firefox is planning. OS X 10.6+ already has a decent HE-AAC encoder courtesy of Quicktime. Won't crunch PS, but handles SBR well enough...

vlc-nox (command line only) do that really well
mplayer too (with the good codec)

But my library is all AAC... the little old format that superseded MP3 way back in 1997. Transcoding once is bad enough, twice along the same chain is a non-starter. Definitely don't want to go from AAC, then to MP3/OGG (liqsoap) then back to AAC again somehow...
