Future: AJAX like non-refreshing

Hello,
As I was testing Airtime it seems the latency between page refreshes or switching between ¨pages¨ in airtime is just ridiculous... And more so over a slow Internet connection...
Is there anything in the works as far as making the front-end more responsive and maybe have the header visible even when switching between say playlist and calendar? Ajax/JavaScript/html5? I think this is one of the main things that turns me off at the moment...
