"Snap to previous show" equivalent?
  • Hi,

My schedulers are asking how they can deal with gaps between two adjacent shows. It seems like they have to fill each show to the exact length or deal with either silence playing or audio getting cut off early.

Looking at Campcaster, there used to be the ability to "snap to previous" on the calendar. Is there an equivalent in Airtime?

For the way we schedule things most of the time this won't be a problem because we treat an entire block of programs as a single show entry and just assemble a playlist to cover the whole thing. However, some of our blocks are 9 hours long and we're considering splitting them up because sometimes we don't have all programming ready when the scheduler is ready to do the block. And, in some rare cases, we might not have all the programming until the block has already started. (Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems you can't append programs to an already playing "shows"?)

To clarify our distinction between shows and blocks, here's our on-air schedule from our website:

    http://www.wgot.org/calendar/

We (WGOT) share our frequency with two other groups (WVFP and WGLJ) so we have 1/3 of the time as shown in the calendar. In Airtime, we treat a "show" as any block of adjacent programs so, for example, Monday's first show starts at 13h and ends at 16h.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Ed!

Thanks for the feedback, we currently don't support modifying shows while they are already playing.

As for the snap to previous show, this could be useful. I've created a ticket for it here: http://dev.sourcefabric.org/browse/CC-2470

This does not mean we may be implementing it anytime soon however, just that it will come up in discussions for future releases.
