I am a journalist and working on webmedia. http://jnilive.com is my site. I want to start a web radio. How can I install the airtime software on my site (with subdomain i.e. radio.jnilive.com)
I more thing, I am not a perfect developer. So I want to know an easy process to install airtime without coding for example as wordpress is easy to install and start.
If you go to the sourcefabric website and "manual download" the tar file
for linux and then go to the http://en.flossmanuals.net/
and locate the link for the airtime manual, then follow the steps
exactly as they are shown. I used ubuntu 11.04 with current updates
as well as the extra items listed to be installed before installing the
airtime package. The description tells you when to install liquidsoap
and icecast2 to be able to stream live as well as the other prerequisite
software and lib packages.
Just follow each step and it will give you a good install, up and
running in less than 30 minutes; this is awsome !
There is also another open source package called Rivendell Audio
Automation that can be downloaded and installed; the help is mostly
a basic wiki as well as user mailing list, but it is a nice package as
well. Just a bit more difficult to install and get up and running,
although they doo have some Live Install disk iso's available from
different users' blog sites etc. It works well and is used by many
commercial stations, but it is a bit tougher to understand for a novice.
It might be adviseable to try airtime and get the idea of the flow and
then change
to RD if you feel the need.
cheers hope this helps.
