Hi there,

Some of these work ok but some fail.
I'm really scratching my head to wonder why.

Let me know if there are any tests that I can do to try to work out what is happening here.

Hi Mick,

I checked the log files and it is failing because book is referencing some material which is not local. Normally it works but this time there are some issues with SSL or resolving the hostname. I did not check content a lot but I would say it could be images like this:

<img title="I_0" style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://www.imathas.com/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi\displaystyle\black{I}_{{0}}">

In general, this would not work for EPUB. Image should be local to work on ebook readers. You could put these images to be local and I will check if this more what is happening in the backend.

Hi Mick,

The Csound manual contains https links, which might explain the SSL error that Aco mentions above. For example in the chapter MAKE CSOUND RUN:

<a title="github wiki" href="https://github.com/csound/csound/wiki">Github Csound Wiki</a>.

Links to GitHub etc. will turn into https automatically when followed in a web browser, so the simplest workaround would be to change these into http links.

The quickest way to find issues like these is to use the full view, e.g. http://floss.booktype.pro/csound/_full/ and do a View Source, then use the browser's Find tool.

It's interesting that it normally works ok. Is that true with the SSL issue as well as the image one?

I'll do some more tests to see if we can narrow this down.

I suppose the cascading response would be.

a) ask you guys if the https:// & external image issues are solvable with tweaks with the pdf generator

b) do some automatic replacing on the source content

For the links pretty easy - do a find and replace on the booki database for href="https://

For images more tricky - Create a clone of the booki.flossmanuals.net site and do a find and replace on the booki database for external images ie - src="http -
I'm not sure how tricky this would be to do. Can you do regex for this kind of thing on a database

c) go through and try to do this manually - this could be a very long process. I can see this being a bit of a problem trying to do this with all the manuals.

Any tips would be great.
