Installation steps get smooth until the setup of the MySQL database. The datatables get created but then /newscoop/install/index.php just shows a blank page in Firefox. No further setup is possible.
Hello - absolutely fantastic work on the project!

I currently run an online radio station consisting of live dj shows that are streamed through the master source in Airtime and recorded. These recordings are then uploaded to my website for indexing and download. However, I was wondering if there was a way (in Airtime or another program) to add metadata or change the layout of the file name? Currently I am naming and updating metadata individually for each of the 36 shows per week.

Ideally I'd like to name the files in the format of "SHOW NAME - GENRE - DATE" and save them all into 1 folder, rather than the current "TIME - SHOW NAME - BITRATE" in date based folders. Having metadata would be the main advantage though, having Show Name be the 'Title', Genre for the 'Artist' and Date be the 'Album' - perhaps even being able to have albumart as well!

If there is any solution (no matter how complex) to do this stuff automatically, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

Sam

I have been trying to run a 'local' version of newscoop on an ubuntu machine today without success. I have a number of joomla and mediawiki sites on this machine. My normal practice, which has served me well for years, is to 'create' the site together with the content on the local machine and then upload a tarball to the live server.

I can get newscoop to install a great looking version of the 'demo' site. However, ONLY THE FRONT PAGE WORKS! All links to the rest of the content do NOT resolve.

I guess this is related to the fact that I did not and do not want to create a virtual host setup on this machine.

Does anyone know how I can make newscoop run properly by entering "http://localhost/newscoop" in the browser without setting up virtual host and thus ruining the rest of my development environment?

In a list of articles, I can ignore publication, issue, section or language, but there is no ignore_topic. The workaround is to use {{ local }}{{ unset_topic }}{{ list_articles }}...{{ /list_articles }}{{ /local }} (for example the New Custodian theme uses this for the most popular articles in the sidebar which would otherwise not be shown on the topic page if they are in the wrong topic or has no topic) but this is more complicated than {{ list_articles ignore_topic="true" }}...{{ /list_articles }}, and {{ local }}...{{ /local }} is also more resource-hungry because it creates a new object.

I suggest adding the filter ignore_topic to the list_articles statement and that it can be used to list articles from all topics, not only the environment topic, and articles that have no topic, even if a topic is set.

Hello,

Several developers in the community have expressed interest in adding video playout to Airtime, perhaps via MLT or VLC. We would like to form a working group to consider the options available, and get hacking on features that video support would require. If you are interested in being part of this group, please leave a comment in the forum or contact us directly.

Cheers!

Daniel
