[campsite-support] Can't copy excisting instance without root db password
  • Hi there,

    I want to make a duplicate of an excisting instance on the same server.
    I've set up a database and made sure i have a db user that can alter the
    database. I then created a new instance and set the db_name (mirror),
    db_user and db_password parameters. I made a backup of the original
    instance and then wanted to restore that backup to the newly created
    instances with this command: campsite-restore-instance file.tar.gz -t
    new_instance_name -e. But when i run this command every thing runs fine
    except the database creation:

    Campsite Restore Utility
    ------------------------
    * Initializing...
    * Temp directory: backup-admin_cms-2007-02-01-15-22-28
    * Initialization done.
    * Extracting files into temp directory...done.
    * Backup instance name is 'admin_cms'.
    * Destination instance name (to be replaced) is 'mirror'.
    * Creating destination instance (if necessary)...done.

    All files in the following directories will be deleted.
    (The backup files will be copied to these locations)
    /usr/local/campsite/www/mirror/html/look
    /usr/local/campsite/www/mirror/html/images
    /usr/local/campsite/www/mirror/html/files
    Are you sure you want to continue? (y/N) y

    * Restoring the database...
    ERROR!
    Can't create database mirror

    What can i do to solve this?

  • Try first to create an empty instance named mirror:

    campsite-create-instance --db_name mirror ... (other parameters)

    Then run the command:

    campsite-restore-instance file.tar.gz -t mirror -e

    Hope this helps,
    Mugur
